AI chat-bots will resemble Human teaching capabilities in future: Bill Gates

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, is optimistic about the future of AI chatbots. While many people are skeptical of the dangers that OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Bard AI chatbots pose, he does sound quite positive. Gates is confident that AI chatbots will be powerful educational tools in 18 months that will help kids read and write. Gates believes this will help level the playing fields for all students, as they’ll have resources they didn’t previously have.

Bill Gates explains the future of AI Chat-bots

Gates said that AI chatbots will be just as good as human tutors at a recent ASU+GSV Summit. Gates said, “The AI will be able to tutor as well as humans ever could”.

“We’ll first be amazed by the way it can help with reading – as a reading researcher assistant – and give you feedback on your writing. The AIs would be able to provide feedback on writing and act as a teacher’s assistant in the next 18-month period. Then they’ll boost our math abilities,” he said.

In March, Gates wrote a blog post titled “The Age of AI Has Begun” in which he discussed the revolutionary potential of AI. Gates also highlighted the future use of AI in education.

He believes AI will revolutionize the way people teach and learn. Gates believes that chatbots can recognize the learning styles of users so they can customize content and keep them interested. The chatbots will not only determine the level of understanding but also what type of motivation users respond to.

Gates believes that AI chatbots can be useful in education, but they cannot replace the work done by students and teachers in the classroom.

AI tools will also be made available to schools at a price that is affordable for all schools, including those with low incomes. “AIs must be trained with diverse data sets to ensure they are unbiased, and that they reflect the cultures of where they will be used.” He added. The digital divide must be addressed to ensure that low-income families do not lose out on their children.
